SUMMARY:(Be)longing on Campus: Jewish Experiences and Desired Futures in Hi
 gher Education
DESCRIPTION:Rising antisemitism is a concern on university campuses around
the globe\, yet emerging studies of Jewish safety and inclusion remain lar
gely survey-based\, quantitative\, and are less attentive to individual an
d localized experiences. My research helps fill this gap through qualitati
ve\, community-engaged research focused on the experience of being Jewish
at UVic. In this talk\, I introduce my project and its aims\, reflect on s
ome of the early questions and tensions surfacing in this work\, and open
a conversation about what a fuller sense of Jewish belonging in higher edu
cation might look like.Erika Finestone is a Postdoctoral Fellow at UVic. H
er research looks critically and curiously at kinship and the politics of
recognition and refusal within state institutions.\nPrice: Free\nTickets:
