Winter of the Crow

Winter of the Crow is a Cold War thriller directed by Kasia Adamik. The film features Academy Award nominee Lesley Manville as Professor Joan Andrews, a British professor lecturing on psychiatry in 1980s Warsaw. She finds herself in a politically oppressed Poland, struggling to understand the hardships faced by the local population.

Her host, Alina (Zofia Wichlacz), is a university student and a key figure in the anti-communist resistance. Professor Andrews' initial frustrations over lost luggage and interrupted lectures escalate dramatically when martial law is declared, tanks appear, and her hosts vanish.

This film explores themes of political oppression and personal awakening as Professor Andrews' self-absorbed world is upended by the harsh realities around her.
