The School of Environmental Studies Research Colloquium Series presents a talk on "Biological Soil Health and Farmer Mental Health." Brooke Hayes, a PhD candidate and Manager of the EcoSoil Lab at the University of Victoria, will be speaking.

Brooke Hayes is a biochemist turned public servant turned soil and agricultural systems ecologist. Her research investigates soil biological function, biological amendments, and the connections between soil health and farmer wellbeing.

She brings scientific depth and a deep respect for local knowledge to her work with producers, with peer-reviewed publications and presentations in soil science, rurality, and interdisciplinary systems assessment. The event is free to attend.
